Overview: Konkuk International Summer Program

The International Summer Program (ISP) at Konkuk University allows students to immerse themselves in Korean life. During this four-week program in Seoul, students will have the opportunity to gain in-class and out-of-class experiences that will deepen their understanding of Korea’s language, history, culture, and foreign relations. In addition to courses for credit, Konkuk ISP offers field trips and cultural activities, including an overnight field trip, one-day cultural excursions, and a student buddy system. 

Students who apply by the March 1 deadline will also received priority for on-campus housing and a free Waterbomb Festival concert ticket.

Academic Information

Students have the option to enroll in one or two of the following courses. Each course is offered in a four-week session. 

  • International Business (3 credits)
  • K-Psychology: View of Koreans and Korean Culture (3 credits)
  • Exploring the Vibrant World of K-Art and K-Pop (3 credits)
  • Korean Language: Beginner (3 credits)
  • Korean Language: Intermediate (3 credits)

Deadline to Apply

  • March 1, 2024 - Deadline to apply to program for guaranteed on-campus housing. Application accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility

  1. Current CSUCI student at time of application
  2. In good academic standing

Application: Two-Step Process

Applications are now CLOSED for Summer 2024. Please check back for information regarding future summer terms. You may also want to explore a semester abroad at Konkuk. 

  1. Complete the CSUCI Short-Term Study Abroad: Direct-Enroll Application.
  2. After completing Step 1, a link will be provided to applicants to apply direct to Konkuk. 

Cost

The program costs are as follows:
  • Registration Fee: KRW 100,000 (approx. $80)
  • Program Fees: KRW 1,200,000 (approx. $900)
  • On-Campus Housing: KRW 500,000 (approx. $380)
  • Field Trip: KRW 500,000 (approx. $380)

TOTAL Amount Due to Konkuk: KRW 2,300,000 (approx. $1,750)

Other out-of-pocket expenses that students should consider in their budget includes roundtrip flight, meals, travel to/from airport and other in-country transportation, health insurance (approx. $75-140), and personal expenses.

Housing

All students who apply by the priority March 1 deadline will be guaranteed a double occupancy room in KU:L House upon request, on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who wish to have cooking facilities because of special dietary needs should find alternative housing during the program.

Roommates will be fellow ISP students. Roommate requests are also accepted prior to the start of the session.

  • Completely furnished with single beds, bed sheets, pillows, desks, chairs, lamps,
    wardrobes, and a mini refrigerator
  • Telephones and free Wi-Fi
  • Air-conditioner

  • Stationary store

Konkuk University’s on-campus residence halls are collectively called KU:L House, where KU:L stands for “KU Leaders.” Opened in 2006 with four main residence halls, it can accommodate up to 3,000 students - the highest number among universities in Seoul.

Konkuk's main campus is located in the southeastern part of Seoul, South Korea surrounding the beautiful Ilgam Lake. With convenient access to public transportation and close proximity to the restaurants, shopping, festivals, parks, and attractions in Seoul, the location is ideal for students wanting to experience the vibrant culture and city life of South Korea.
