Location

Ringerike is a district in Buskerud in the central lowlands of Eastern Norway. It’s a popular tourist destination for day trips to the Hadeland Glassverk as the biggest attraction.

Campus Ringerike lies just a few minutes’ walk from the town center in the city of Hønefoss. Hønefoss is a peaceful and safe city (pop. 14,000) located in the midst of spectacular, Norwegian scenery. Most shopping and recreational activities are within walking distance of the USN campus and Oslo is only a 60-minute drive. Hønefoss is a great base for adventurous students who want to explore beautiful Norwegian mountains and fjords as well as travelers who want to visit other parts of Scandinavia and the Baltics.

Additional Information

While academic content is a priority, USN promotes intercultural learning through:

Social Gatherings

  • The program offers social gatherings and cultural activities during the evenings and weekends, as well as membership in the Campus Ringerike training center. Social activities include a welcome barbeque, traditional Norwegian dinner and dance, campus events, hiking and a farewell dinner. Students can visit some of Norway’s most famous cultural attractions such as the Viking Ship Museum and the Norwegian Opera.
