Sept. 20, 2018 - Organizers of the annual Science Carnival are recruiting volunteers for the annual affair, to be held on Nov. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Rio Vista Middle School in Oxnard. Students, staff and faculty at the University are encouraged to volunteer to conduct an activity or help with logistics such as first aid, information booth, set-up/tear-down, and other positions that do not require a science background

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event and will feature over 100 different science activities, including, examining the effect of trajectory and air pressure on the range of a marshmallow shot using an air-powered marshmallow shooter, making slime and glue gak, seeing a gummy bear burn in potassium chlorate as part of the "screaming gummy bear" demonstration, and making glow powder drawings.

The Science Carnival is FREE to all! Children in grades PreK thru 8 and their families are welcome to attend and experience hands-on science activities in a Halloween carnival setting. Free parking is available at Pacifica High School.

Visit the Science Carnival website for full event information; sign up to volunteer.
