SISC Overview & Charge
In December of 2016, President Beck charged the Interim Provost with launching a strategic initiatives planning process. The Interim Provost convened a steering committee comprised of the Academic Senate Chair, the Student Government President, an additional faculty member, and Cabinet, and began an information gathering process assessing the opportunities and challenges facing our campus community.
Building upon this information, the newly appointed Provost continued the planning process in fall of 2017 where four subcommittees were charged with leading campus-wide discussions to help identify, define and outline strategic initiatives for recommendation to the President. In addition, to the four subcommittees, the President initiated a President’s Task Force for Inclusive Excellence to further CSUCI’s commitment to equity and inclusion.
In spring early 2018, the campus community received the draft Strategic Initiatives and additional convenings, including a second World Café open forum, were held to solicit feedback. In May of 2018, the President sent the finalized Strategic Initiatives to the campus community. These initiatives were a result of recommendations from Strategic Initiative Steering Committee and Subcommittees, numerous open forums, two World Cafés, feedback from the President’s White Paper, and information garnered through the President’s Listening Tour.
These final Strategic Initiatives are categorized within four key areas (Student Success, Educational Excellence, Inclusive Excellence, and Capacity & Sustainability) and serve to advance our commitment to our students and the community we serve.
