Proposal Development

Once your Intent to Apply has been submitted, RSP will schedule a PI Planning meeting to discuss and review the program solicitation, your proposed project, documents required for submission, proposal budget, and any campus resources that may be needed for the project.

More complex proposals require additional preparation, and we ask for as much advanced notice as possible. The following are examples of project elements that may need additional time:

  • subawards to other organizations
  • proposals that require campus resources or institutional commitment (e.g., match, in-kind)
  • proposals that require signatures from the campus President or other campus administrators

From the time of the PI Planning meeting to the submission deadline, RSP staff will work with the PI to develop the project budget, gather proposal elements, and, as needed, be in contact with project partners and other campus personnel.

Proposal Review and Submission

According to CSUCI policy, the University must review and approve every sponsored project proposal prior to submission. Our review process is called the Proposal Administrative Review (PAR) routing process. This process typically starts about 5-7 business days prior to submission and allows pertinent University stakeholders to review the elements of the project, provide feedback, and approve for submission.
