At times, a funding opportunity or an award is presented to the University and the Gift vs. Grant will be used to assist in determining if the funds should be treated a grant, which is typically administered by RSP, or a gift, which would be administered by the Foundation. |

Independent Contractor vs. Employee (MS Word, 20.4KB) |
The list may assist a PI in determining how a non-CSUCI individual should be included in the proposal budget. |
| Provisional PI Request Form (PDF, 130KB) | This form provides lecturer faculty and other staff members to be appointed to Provisional Principal Investigator (PI) status with written approval from the Provost or Vice Presidents, and with agreement to abide by all the responsibilities that PI status requires. |
| Subaward vs. Contractor (MS Word, 28.2KB) | This list may assist a PI determine how their project partner should be included in the proposal, and this will guide the next steps in proposal preparation. |
