Need a student representative?

Please complete the Divisional Request for Student Representation Form.

I am a CSUCI faculty/staff member who serves as a committee coordinator, how can DSA assist me in recruiting and appointing students?

Throughout the year, Student Affairs actively works with various partners on campus to promote service on University committees and to recruit students. Some of our marketing efforts include flyers across the campus’ posting boards and social media; tabling during student clubs & Orgs Fairs; information sharing with departments such as Career Services.

All recognized committees may submit a request for student representation by completing the Divisional Request for Student Representation Form.

Lead time for student recommendation and appointment may vary based on student interest and availability; time of the year, special requirements your committee may have (such as GPA, class level); need for presidential appointment, etc. Committees are strongly encouraged to submit their requests early to allow for adequate time for student recruitment and appointment.

Training/Onboarding for Student Representatives?

As part of recruitment, DSA provides students with a presentation related to the general expectations/responsibilities of serving on committees and boards. See Serving on a Committee (PDF, 1.4M).

You may want to consider additional training and/or onboarding specific to your committee for incoming student representative(s). For some committees, it consists of a one-on-one session (virtual or in-person) with the committee chair/coordinator and covers the following topics: summary of the committee’s charge/purpose, history of the committee, and goals for the academic year. The training may include written material.
