Did you know?

As higher education continues to evolve, so too do the needs of our students. Efforts are continuously being made to identify the challenges faced by this generation in their pursuit of obtaining a college degree. Universities are assessing services and resources that are being provided to foster student success and increase graduation rates.

CSU Channel Islands (CSUCI), along with the other California State University campuses, is making great strides in its efforts to meet what have been identified as ‘basic needs’ crucial to academic success: addressing food security, housing security, and financial assistance in times of dire need. CSUCI has taken steps to implement a Basic Needs and Emergency Intervention program. The establishment of the Dolphin Food Pantry, the accessibility of emergency housing, and the creation of the emergency grants program highlight the accomplishments made since the fall 2016 semester. As time and resources permit, additional services and programs will be made available. The goal of the CSUCI Basic Needs and Emergency Intervention program is to provide assistance to every student that is experiencing a ‘basic need’ insecurity.
