This is your first scheduled appointment with Academic Advising creating the foundation for your personal education plan. During the session you will discuss in detail your graduation requirements and how to be successful academically at CI. Advisors will assist students in setting academic goals and referrals to appropriate campus resources. Although Advisors are here to assist students, it is important to understand students are responsible for their academic career.

How to be prepared for your First Appointment

  • Review your CARR (How to view your CARR)
  • Be prepared with questions or topics you would like to discuss about your education plan
  • Bring Advising Syllabus (PDF, 330KB)
  • Bring any applicable forms (Registrar Forms Library)
    • GE course substitutions, Petitions for Exception, etc.
    • Note:
      • Major/Minor course substitutions are completed directly with the Faculty Advisor
      • The Advising Center does not provide campus forms
  • Review your Transfer Credit Report TCR (How to view your TCR)
    • For AP, IB, Military or other college credit
  • For out of area, out of state or private school transfer students, meet with your Faculty Advisor prior to your First Appointment to understand what credit will be applied to your major.
