University Catalog and Academic Program Roadmaps

Role of Academic Programs Office in Catalog Production

The production of the University Catalog is the responsibility of the Academic Programs Office.

The process to update and review the University Catalog starts each fall for the subsequent academic year.  The staff works with various university units, faculty, staff, and the Chancellor's Office to update the Catalog. The annual publication is set to take place on March 15 of each year.

For any curricular changes that Programs would like to make to the Catalog, formal proposals need to be submitted via Curriculum/Curriculog. For resources on how to submit proposals visit the Curriculum/Curriculog site - link to Curriculum/Curriculog site

The current University Catalog can be found here. Please email us at csucicatalog@csuci.edu with any inquiries or to report any errors or updates found. Your input and comments are important to us.

Role of Academic Programs Office in Roadmaps

The Program Roadmaps are now embedded in the University Catalog.

The process to update and review Roadmaps starts each fall for the subsequent academic year. The publication of Roadmaps follows the Catalog production date, March 15th of each year.

If your Program is creating or updating Roadmaps to be included in the 2025-2026 Catalog, please refer to the steps below to get started.

Steps to Creating or Updating your Program’s Roadmaps:

Step 1: Program Chairs contact Taryn McHugh taryn.mchugh@csuci.edu via email to set up a one-hour meeting. The deadline to contact is October 18th to ensure changes will be published in the 25-26 Catalog.

Meetings will occur October-December 20th.

*Note: these meetings are ONLY for Programs who are creating or updating Roadmaps for the 2025-2026 Catalog.

Step 2: BEFORE the meeting, your Program will need to prepare and send your proposed Roadmap to Taryn McHugh taryn.mchugh@csuci.edu. Please discuss the proposed Roadmap with faculty before the meeting. What MUST be included in your Roadmap:

  • A list of courses for each semester detailing which major classes, GEs, etc. and requirements met/GE Grad area satisfied
    • Include any specific course notes as needed
  • Recommendations/notes for each semester, if they are needed
  • Total number of units for each semester and year, ensuring totals for Freshman Roadmaps are = 120 units and Transfer Roadmaps are = 60 units (unless your program has an exception)

*NOTE: Any updates to the 2-year AND 4-year Roadmaps must be submitted separately

Step 3: Program chairs will meet with Taryn and during the meeting the form 9. 2024-2025 Roadmaps updates: 2025-2026 Catalog will be launched in Curriculog. The Roadmap documents that were sent over prior to our meeting will be discussed and the roadmap(s) will be finalized together.

  • Originator” is first step and approval will be done together in the meeting
  • Next, it will route to “Program Chair” for approval (this step can be completed during our meeting, or will have a deadline of January 31st to ensure inclusion in the Catalog)
  • Next, it will route to “Academic Advising” where the appropriate Program’s Academic Advisor will get notified that the Program has made changes to the Roadmap.
  • Lastly, it will go to “Academic Programs Catalog Review”, where staff will migrate information to the Catalog for publication.

Step 4: Once the form goes through “Academic Programs Catalog Review”, the Academic Programs Office will work on implementation in the Catalog. Catalog publication is March 15th.
