Information

implementation of a procedure to ensure adequate food availability and delivery to students living on campus as well as the limited faculty and staff.

Background and Policy Issue(s)

Food is normally served to residential students in Islands Cafe. Social Distancing procedures and the Stay Well at Home order from the Ventura County Health Officer require that food be served via delivery, pick-up or drive thru, that all food be consumed away from premises and that 6 foot spacing be maintained. The Environmental Health & Safety team (EH&S) worked with both University Auxiliary Services (UAS) Dining and HRE to create procedures in compliance with State and County guidance that keep residential students safely fed while also minimizing the risk of transmission. These procedures will allow Islands Cafe to stay open for the limited number of faculty and staff working during the Pandemic, making things more convenient while maintaining food safety.

Islands Cafe will stay open to both residential students as well as the limited number of faculty and staff working on campus during the Coronavirus pandemic with the following hours:

  1. Operating 7 days per week to ensure consistent availability of food with hours of
    1. Breakfast: 8:00am – 10:00am
    2. Lunch: 11:30am - 1:30pm
    3. Dinner: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
