Career Development:

Select this option when admitted to a CSU towards a degree or academic goal.  Submit one fee waiver application form each term. 

To be eligible for the Career Development Track, employees first need to apply through Cal State Apply, be accepted and become a student working toward a degree, credential, or certificate. Note- Please follow CSU deadlines and you will need to pay any application fee.

  • These classes are taken to attain an identified academic goal
  • Students meet with their academic advisor to develop an academic plan for their course requirements
  • Employee must follow normal University matriculation requirements through Cal State Apply
  • Employee must remain in good academic standing and maintain satisfactory progress toward the objective outlined in their submitted Individual Development Plan
  • Employees working toward a Master's degree are not required to maintain continuous enrollment but may be required to submit a Graduate application when recommencing enrollment
  • Once the admissions process is completed, submit employee fee waiver form prior to the fee waiver deadline for that term

Work-Related:

Employees may select this option when taking courses specifically to improve their job performance or for the attainment or enhancement of skills for the purpose of career advancement within the CSU system.  This track does not matriculate students and are not registered through Extended University. 

  • Classes that are directly related to enhancing the knowledge level for performing duties in an employee's current position or help develop new skills.
  • Employee must remain in good academic standing and maintain satisfactory progress toward the objective outlined in the Individual Development Plan
  • Employee completes the fee waiver form,  sends to HR Service Catalog, and if approved, HR will forward fee waiver to Admission's Office, who will assign an enrollment into the class
  • A confirmation email will be sent confirming you have been accepted as a student under the Work-Related track.  You can then enroll in courses and pay any required fees.
