California State University Channel Islands offers international exchange students the opportunity to enroll in courses on campus with regular domestic university students. In return, CI students have an opportunity to study at the partner educational institution: Institutional Partners.

Application Deadlines

  • To study at CI in the Fall: March 15
  • To study at CI in the Spring: October 1

Admission Requirements

  • To apply for the J-1 Exchange program at CI you must be enrolled at one of our Institutional Partners
  • You must be nominated by your Institution’s International Office
  • Complete J-1 Exchange Application
  • Verify Financial Support (information in exchange application)
  • English Proficiency Score (TOEFL-internet based score 61, IELTS 6.0, or DAAD B or better)
  • Official Transcripts
  • Provide passport copy
  • Provide Vaccination Record (Required Immunizations)
  • Complete Course Request Form
  • Purchase CSU Healthlink Health Insurance (Provide proof of purchase after acceptance.)
