Application Deadlines

Please allow sufficient time to apply for and be granted a student visa from the U.S. Embassy in your home country. For locations and more information on applying for the F-1 visa, please visit the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs website where you will find a list of Embassy and Consulate locations.  Another resource is the Study in the States website.

Please submit all application materials by the following deadlines: 

Application deadlines for all programs in Spring 2024 - Closed

  • Application Begins: August 1, 2023
  • Application Deadline: October 2, 2023 - Closed
  • Deadline to Accept Offer: October 13, 2023
  • Day to Arrive in Camarillo:  January 17, 2024*
  • Classes Begin: January 22, 2024

International Undergraduate Admission Requirements

 Apply through the Cal Sate Apply website.  There is a $70 application fee.  

First-Time Freshmen - (Fall 2024 Information Sheet) (PDF, 305KB)

    • A GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale on high school coursework for years 10, 11 and 12.
    • English Language Proficiency
    • Freshmen Students are required to live in campus housing during their first year.  

Lower Division Transfer  (in first or second year, 1-59 semester transfer units completed)

    • A GPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale on high school coursework
    • A GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on college coursework
    • English Language Proficiency
    • Applicants transferring from a college or university within the USA should complete the following:
      • A2 Written Communication with a C- or better
      • B4 Mathematics with a C- or better

Upper Division Transfer  (in third or fourth year, 60+ semester transfer units completed)

    • A GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on college coursework
    • English Language Proficiency
    • Applicants transferring from a college or university within the USA should complete the following:
      • A2 Written Communication with a C- or better
      • B4 Mathematics with a C- or better

English Proficiency Requirement*

Acceptable English Proficiency Exams

  • TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language with a minimum score of 61 on the Internet-Based Test (ETS Code 0236)
  • IELTS – International English Language Test System with an overall band score of 6.0
  • PTE - Pearson's Test of English score of 46
  • Duolingo English Test score of 95

*Freshmen students: It is not required to submit an English proficiency exam score if you have graduated and attended three years at a high school in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Malta, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago. 

*Transfer students: It is not required to submit an English proficiency exam score if you attend three years and graduate from a high school from a country listed above or you have completed the required English Freshman Composition Class at your community college.

Program Tuition and Fees* 

Spring 2024:    4-year plan (30 units per year)  $18,682 per year  120 semester units to graduate 
Fall 2024:4-year plan (30 units per year)$19,744 per year120 semester units to graduate 

Tuition and fees are paid each semester.  We offer payment plans of 3 payments per semester.  For a full list of fees and information about the payment plan visit Student Business Services.  For Sring 2024, international students pay $396 per unit plus the California resident tuition and fees.  For Fall 2024, international students pay $420 per unit plus the California resident tuition and fees.

Please note we also offer optional summer sessions  if students would like to finish their degree earlier.  There is no admission cycle in summer. 

*The CSU makes every effort to keep students costs to a minimum.  Tuition and fees are subject to change.  Please note the California State University system has approved a tuition increase each year until 2028.  Please refer to Multi-Year Tuition Increase.

Required for I-20 Document

  • Make an appointment for a 15-minute Zoom meeting with International Programs staff to discuss your next steps.  Email international@csuci.edu to arrange an appointment. 
  • Financial Affidavit for International Undergraduates (PDF, 149KB)
  • Provide a bank statement or an original letter on the financial institution’s letterhead showing available funds of $40,000 USD.  The document should list the available balance, the date and the account holder's name.  If the student has a sponsor, a person willing to financially support the student while he or she is studying at CI, the sponsor must submit a financial statement, as well as sign the Affidavit of Financial Support.
  • Submit a copy of your passport (picture page) 

These financial documents can be scanned and sent to the International Programs office at international@csuci.edu.

Orientation Fee

Please not students who accept the offer of admission must submit an orientation fee:

  • First-Time Freshmen - $175
  • Transfer Students - $50

Instruction on how to pay the fees will be included in your admission email.
