Offering comprehensive subject-based tutoring and academic support services for the CSUCI community.
LRC MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the Learning Resource Center is to foster the necessary academic skills, mindsets, and behaviors to meet short- and long-term academic goals, support lifelong learning, and facilitate equitable outcomes for all CSUCI students, faculty, and staff.
The LRC accomplishes this mission by using a social justice framework in our approach to peer education and subject-based tutoring. We offer a welcoming and inclusive environment in which we meet our visitors at their personal starting point and celebrate their diverse abilities, perspectives, and ways of creating knowledge. We provide the structure, knowledge, and strategies for each individual to reach their academic potential. The LRC supports the mission of the university by creating a student-centered place of developing interdisciplinary scholarship, a home away from home, and a community of peer educators to guide visitors on their academic journey. We promote active and engaged learning through our peer-education model that can be summed up in three simple words: students empowering students.
View tutors' schedules and availability on Tutor Finder
The LRC is primarily a drop-in tutoring center and no appointment is necessary to visit with an available tutor. Students are seen on a first-come basis, and tutors may work with multiple students at a time, rotating between tutees in 20-minute intervals if the Center is busy.
We also offer limited appointment-based tutoring. Students may schedule up to two 30-minute appointments per class per week. You can request an appointment by filling out a tutoring appointment request form, located on our Tutor Finder website.
The LRC also offers the following resources available to check out while studying in the LRC:
- Laptops
- Headphones
- Graphing Calculators
- Anatomical Models
- Textbooks
- Markers & Dry Erase Boards
The LRC provides tutoring both in-person at our Center on the second floor of Broome Library and virtually through our online Zoom Tutoring Center. Please see our Subjects and Schedule tab for updated scheduling information.
To utilize LRC Online Tutoring via Zoom, all you need is a laptop or Smartphone with a microphone and camera on or attached to your computer. (Most laptops are fine for this, but a desktop may require you to plug in a camera.) Please see our Online Tutoring Page for more information.
