2011 Halloween Spooktacular!!

The campus will be kicking off its Annual Charitable Giving Campaign on Halloween - Monday, Oct. 31.

The festivities begin in the morning with the department decorating contest. We will be providing the "Spooktacular Passport" again this year. Employees can pick up a Passport in their department or HR Programs on Friday, Oct. 28 and are encouraged to visit all eight of the participating departments to marvel at the creativity and hard work! The judging categories will be: Most Humorous, Most Creative, Scariest, and Best Newbie. Completed Passports (all departments stamped) will be entered for a chance to win in a special drawing.

Next, employees are invited to come to Salon A at 1:30 p.m. for the individual costume contest.  There will also be hors d'oeuvres, beverages, guest presenters, raffle prizes, the drawing for the Spooktacular Passport, and a ton of fun and friendship.

The focus of our charitable campaign this year is volunteerism. Our guest presenters will be United Way, Food Share and Habitat for Humanity. The University would like to collect and present Food Share with food for needy families, so employees who bring a canned good or non-perishable food item will receive an extra raffle ticket.

Come on out to the event, visit departments and enjoy yourself. Have fun seeing all the costumes and learn how you can give back to your community in ways you never imagined.

Operation Safe Halloween - No Tricks, Just Treats  - Oct. 31

CI Police & Parking Services and University Auxiliary Services, Inc. will be hosting Operation Safe Halloween from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. This fifth-annual community outreach event provides a safe and enjoyable evening for the families within the University Glen community.

Our motto: Safety First. Traffic control and speeding enforcement programs will be implemented throughout East Campus. Parents and children will be able to congregate and traverse safely through their neighborhoods with a minimum of concern for traffic hazards. Police & Parking Services personnel will also be on foot that evening throughout the community.

Similar to last year, a booth and command center will be set up on the south end of Santa Cruz Island Drive where our staff will greet children, check and distribute candy. Staff will also be located at an information booth in Town Center and available to answer questions about safety and services provided in the University Glen community by Police & Parking Services.

Please remember: Safety is everyone's responsibility. If you see any suspicious behavior or situations, please report them immediately.
