"This program is one of the best I have encountered in my many years of public service. It is to be commended and word needs to be spread all over the country about it. It is so beneficial for both the organizations and the students! "  -Amy Reed, Buen Vecino

Community Partners as Co-Educators

Community partners play an integral role as a co-educator in the academic careers of our students.  As a co-educator you have a unique opportunity to mentor CSUCI students about the larger social, cultural and political issues that make up the world around them. You will also have an opportunity to provide them with the knowledge and understanding of the community/population they are working with and the service they are providing.

Benefits to organizations partnering with the CCE:
  • Increases the volunteer pool
  • Allows non-profits to contribute to the education and preparation of the next generation of community leaders, non-profit employees, and public servants
  • Provides opportunities to educate students about current issues that impact surrounding communities
  • Provides opportunities for collaborative funding projects and leveraging of resources

The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) works with  regional and national non-profit, private sector, and governmental agencies to host CSUCI students seeking service-learning experiences for course credit, with new organizations approved each semester.
