Eligible students may now potentially receive additional Federal Pell Grant Award funds during a single award year; identified at (CI) as Federal Pell Grant 2.
A student will be reviewed for Federal Pell Grant 2 eligibility during the current award year if they meet all of the following Federal criteria:
- You have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with CI with an eligible Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
- AND You have successfully earned at least 24 units in the current award year
- AND You are enrolled-in and maintain at least 6-units of coursework throughout the duration of the term.
Prior to disbursement of the Federal Pell Grant 2 the Financial Aid Office will review a student’s file to determine if the student meets the eligibility criteria determined by the Federal Department of Education. This process will delay the disbursement of Federal Pell Grant 2 to the student’s account. Students that do not meet the criteria outlined by the Federal Department of Education will have their Federal Pell Grant 2 awards canceled or reduced. Students cannot receive a Pell Grant at two schools for the same term. In addition to these requirements, students must also have exhausted 100% of initial Federal Pell Grant award either prior to the term in which receiving Pell Grant 2 or during the term for which Federal Pell Grant 2 is awarded.
NOTE:Only Undergraduate and students pursuing an initial first Credential may be considered for Federal Pell Grant eligibility. Graduate Masters, 2nd B.A, and Doctoral students are NOT eligible for Federal Pell Grant funding.
