Oct. 19, 2021

Dear Students:

As we begin the last half of the Fall semester, I wanted to provide a status update for a few different topics of campus interest:

  • Mask Mandate – CSUCI has made the decision to continue to require masks indoors for the duration of the Fall semester. Prior to the start of the Spring 2022 semester and depending on orders issued by Ventura County Public Health, we will update the campus about any changes in requirements for indoor mask-wearing.

  • At-Home COVID Test Kits – the campus is offering employees and students free at-home test kits that can be mailed for test results. These free kits can be picked up Oct. 19-20 at the Central Mall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Public Safety lobby in Placer Hall. Kits will also be made available on an ongoing basis at Public Safety, as well as future distribution events on campus.

  • Vaccine Clinic – an on-campus vaccine clinic for the Pfizer 2-dose vaccine, booster, as well as flu shots will be held on Friday, Oct. 22 at El Dorado Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please use this registration website to schedule an appointment.

  • Increased COVID Campus Testing After the Holidays and Winter Break – in consideration of upcoming holidays, COVID testing will be increased from three days per week to five days per week. Increased testing is scheduled for the week of Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as additional weeks in January 2022 that will be announced as soon as confirmed. Other testing dates in December will also continue as scheduled on our website. On-campus appointments may be scheduled at this registration website.

  • Spring 2022 Semester Planning – as we look forward to the Spring 2022 semester, CSUCI will continue to use our regular planning structures to create course schedules that meet the needs of our students, balancing in-person classes and business operations with high-demand online courses.

Employees with questions may discuss them with their supervisor or Dean. Students with questions may address them to the Dean of Students office.

In the meantime, I wish everyone the best of health and success during the remainder of the semester and ask that you please remember to take care of yourself and each other.

Sincerely,
Richard Yao, Ph.D.
Interim President
