CI Staff Council 

What does the committee do?

The goal of the CI Staff Council is to connect staff to the rest of campus as well as address issues and continue to build onto our campus culture for the betterment of the campus community, with the primary focus of supporting staff in their roles. All elected council members are staff member elected. We are here to serve staff in all 5 campus divisions- Academic Affairs, Business & Financial Affairs, Office of the President, Student Affairs, and University Advancement.

IEAT 1 is continuously inventorying accomplishments and identifying opportunities to do better toward the goal of achieving racial and social justice across all divisions in the areas of professional development, leadership development, and mentoring for faculty, staff, administrators, and students. The Inclusive Excellence Action Plan (IEAP) created by this team calls for specific and ongoing work toward consolidating campus resources in these areas, ensuring that all campus leaders are well versed in implicit bias education, and furthering our HSI mission.

IEAT 5 is continuously inventorying accomplishments and identifying opportunities to do better toward the goal of achieving racial and social justice across all divisions by ensuring that the processes of collecting, analyzing, accessing, and using data effectively serve decision-making and planning processes. The Equity Lens Framework developed by President’s Advisory Council on Inclusive Excellence (PACIE) is a tool used by this group for the purpose of seeing and using data (e.g., on courses, programs, co-curricular offerings, enrollment management, UPD policies and practices) through the lenses of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

President's Advisory Council on Inclusive Excellence 

What does the committee do?

Established fall 2017, the President’s Advisory Council on Inclusive Excellence provides a permanent space for conversation with and guidance for the President on matters of equity and justice. Its charge is to advance a culture of excellence, assisting the President in building social justice leadership capacity throughout the university and ensuring that campus dialogue and decisions at every level are rooted in the core values of equity, justice, and inclusivity.

Property Survey Board Committee

What does the committee do?

The Property Survey Board Committee (PSBC) serves and represents the campus’ best interest when assets are disposed of and fully approves suggested dispositions that will be used in the disposal process. To the extent possible, there will be a sufficient number of members on the committee to ensure representation by both business management and program responsibilities. At least two committee members must approve all property survey and property transfer reports prior to the completion of the disposition transaction.

Scholarship Reader Committee

Student Fee Advisory Committee (SFAC)

What does the committee do?

The SFAC reviews new campus proposals and the modification of current category II and III fees in order to provide advice to the campus President on A) how to proceed with appropriate and meaningful consultation, and B) adjustments to campus mandatory and course-based fees.

Beginning in the 2019-20 AY, in addition to the overarching responsibilities and purview of the SFAC, the Committee provided direct oversight to the Recreation & Athletics Fee and Student Health Fees. During the year, the SFAC heard presentations from Campus Recreation and Student Wellness who provide oversight and day-to-day management over the Recreation & Athletics, Student Health Services, and Health
Facility fees.

Meeting Information:

The Student Fee Advisory Committee will meet the 1st Friday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the Student Union, Room 1080 (Coville conference room), unless otherwise stated. Staff Excellence Awards Review Committee

What does the committee do?

The selection committee consists of five members, in which varied University Division representation is coordinated. Members of the selection committee will review the nominations according to a pre-determined criteria and according to rating procedures established by the Staff Council Executive Committee.

Strategic Resource and Planning Committee

What does the committee do?

The goal of the budget resource planning process is to create a balanced and sustainable ongoing budget that supports the University's Strategic Initiatives and GI 2025 goals. This involves strategic investments, assessing capacity, and reallocating existing resources to align with divisional and university priorities. For FY21, develop a framework to mitigate anticipated challenges.

Sustainability Working Group

What does the committee do?

The Sustainability Working Group at CI has been working for several years to advance sustainability initiatives across the campus. Members of the Working Group are appointed to represent different areas of the campus. However, all interested members of the CI community are welcome to participate in sustainability projects. The work of the Working Group focuses on five primary areas of sustainability:

  • Climate Action
  • Environmental Education, Awareness and Engagement
  • Waste Management and Prevention
  • Strategic Energy Management & Building Operations
  • Transportation Options
  • With the help of the campus community, Working Group members initiate projects and introduce initiatives relevant to these areas of emphases.

UAS Food Service Committee

What does the committee do?

To provide a forum to discuss and recommend action on issues related to campus food service. Conduct on-going review of campus food service and related issues. University Police Advisory Council (UPAC)

What does the committee do?

Under the authority of the President, and with direct responsibility to the Chief of Police, the University Police Advisory Council works in partnership with the UPD to:

  • Increase transparency, accountability, and access to the UPD in an effort to improve public trust and confidence in the police;
  • Identify current public safety issues that impact the campus community;
  • Review and provide input on existing and future initiatives within the UPD;
  • Examine and provide recommendations concerning matters of public safety, particularly changes in current policies/practices or matters that may impact the privacy or civil liberties of members of the campus community;
  • Assist with defining the involvement of the police in the life of the university in ways that will create an environment most conducive to the intellectual, cultural, and personal development of our students

University Safety Committee

What does the committee do?

It is the policy of California State University Channel Islands to provide a safe and healthful environment for students, employees and visitors. The University, through this Safety Committee, will support that policy by addressing safety concerns and providing communication between interested parties. The Committee will meet as often as necessary to fulfill its obligations, but not less than once a semester. Meeting minutes will be available for review by employees.

Committee actions will include assessing safety information and recommending corrective actions to staff, students or campus administration.
