STARS Information:

  • Credit Rationale: Institution has a sustainability-themed housing (residential hall or floor, or theme house) where residents learn about sustainability together and to which residents must apply.
  • Environmental Benefits: The focus of this credit is creating a residential sustainability learning community. Teaching students about how to live more sustainably will give them the proper knowledge for when they leave the campus community and either move back home (where they can share the information with their family) or have their own place for the first time. Having this type of sustainable living knowledge also gives students a sense of empowerment and responsibility in knowing that they are capable of doing something good for the environment.
  • Scoring: Institution received 0.25 points for meeting the criteria outlined above.
