Guide for Spring 2024 Admitted Transfers

1. Celebrate this moment!

Post a selfie or video using #FutureDolphin on Instagram. We would love to share your posts.

2. Stay on Track

Your Admissions is provisional, so make sure you complete all requirements. Regularly check your email (the email you used when completing the online Cal State Apply application).

3. Complete the 3-Step Intent to Enroll process:

New extended deadline is Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. to reserve your spot for Spring 2024.

Our offer of provisional admission is only valid for the spring 2024 term. Our offer of provisional admission will be withdrawn if you fail to complete all three steps of the Intent to Enroll process, as described below, by the deadline.

CSUCI allows students to request a one-time deferment of their admission to the next available term, which is typically next fall. If it has been more than one term, the student will be required to complete a new application and pay the required fee. Updated transcripts are required for coursework that have been completed, or is in progress of being completed, since first being admitted to CSUCI. Students may request a deferral by emailing Admissions at  admissions@csuci.edu.

The 3-Step Intent to Enroll Process Requirement:
Log into your myCI portal and complete the following 3-steps by the extended deadline of December 20, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. deadline.

Can I defer payment of the orientation fee until my financial aid award is disbursed?
This depends, as NOT ALL STUDENTS WILL QUALIFY. Students who filed a 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act application on or before the March 2, 2023 deadline AND have an Estimated Family Contribution EFC) of 6,000 or less will be considered for a deferment. You must check the “Holds” section of your Student Center (visible in the upper-right corner of your portal). If you do not see “FA Orientation Deferral,” then you must pay the orientation fee by the deadline above or our offer of provisional admission will be withdrawn.

If you see “FA Orientation Deferral” noted in the “Holds” section of your Student Center, then payment of the orientation fee will be charged to your first semester’s account. In other words, your fee will be deferred (but not waived).

Is the orientation fee refundable?
Once paid, the orientation fee is non-refundable and may not be applied to a future term. This means you will NOT receive a refund even if (a) you request to have our offer of admission (provisional or final) withdrawn at a later date or choose not to enroll; (b) our offer of provisional admission is withdrawn because you failed to meet an admission or enrollment requirement or deadline (including the transcript deadline); or (c) our offer of provisional admission is rescinded after reviewing your final transcript(s).

IMPORTANT: You may be held responsible for paying the orientation fee if you were deferred and any of the above conditions apply. Contact orientation@csuci.edu if you have any questions about the fee.

4. Request Final Official Transcripts now.

All AP test scores (if any) and Final Official Transcript(s) are due with final summer 2023 grades posted. If you had previously submitted your transcripts and had any in-progress grades that were not posted at the time, you will need to once again submit official transcripts. Please check your To-Do list via your myCI portal to check if you are still missing transcripts. Transcripts and the Intent to Enroll process would need to be submitted before registering for classes. Visit New Student Registration website for more information.

Electronic transcripts are preferred. You can request official electronic transcripts from your community college/university directly. If your school's transcript ordering system asks for a recipient's name and email, please indicate CSU Channel Islands and admissions@csuci.edu. We will not accept transcripts emailed from the student; they must be sent directly from the college or university.

If your college or university is unable to send the transcript electronically, they may be postal mailed in a sealed envelope to:

CSU Channel Islands
ATTN: Admissions - Sage Hall
One University Drive
Camarillo, CA 93012

Students may also hand-deliver their transcripts to the CSUCI Admissions Office if they remain in the same sealed envelope provided to them by their registrar.

Note: If you have taken coursework from an institution outside of the United States, your transcript must be evaluated by a credentials evaluation service, such as International Education Research Foundation IERFF) at www.ierf.org. Request your official report at least 6-8 weeks in advance of the transcript deadline.

If you took AP exams in high school or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, you must request that your official scores be sent to us directly from the College Board by the transcript deadline (unless you have already done so). AP/CLEP credit awarded from your transferring institution will not suffice. Exams taken four or more years ago require additional processing time. Please plan accordingly. Request scores at least 6-8 weeks in advance.

5. Submit Residency Documents (if required)

The deadline to submit Residency documents for students with a residency status of “Another State or U.S. Possession” or “Undetermined” is Friday, October 27, 2023. Those who submit their documents after the deadline, or submit incomplete documents, may not have them processed in time for the spring 2024 term. This may result in students being charged non-resident tuition for spring 2024. State residency determines admissions criteria and fee structure for all applicants. Your residency is determined by the information submitted in your application for admission and is referenced in our offer of provisional admission letter. For additional information, please visit: go.csuci.eduCAresidency or e-mail registrar@csuci.edu
