How to get started

  1. Select an assignment from above and submit your assignment request ASAP.
  2. A CDS staff member will be in contact within 24-48 hours to confirm your request.
  3. If you requested a presentation with your assignment, a CDS staff member will follow-up with you to confirm a presentation date and time (optional).
  4. You can download the assignments above, or direct your students to this page to download the documents directly.
  5. As your students complete their assignments, if any concerns or issues arise from the assignment you will be notified (e.g., only one week before the assignment deadline and only a small portion of students completed the assignment).
  6. After assignment completion, we welcome your feedback and will provide an optional satisfaction survey to you and/or your students.

Classroom Presentation

We highly recommend you incorporate a quick 15-minute presentation in your classroom or group meeting to educate your students about Career Development Services and the critical role these assignments play in their educational and career goals. Students do not engage as well when they are asked to complete an assignment without understanding the purpose of the task. They will often request staff to help them with “just completing the assignment to get a grade.” To request a classroom presentation to prepare your students for your assignment, please complete the classroom presentation request form.

Customized Assignment Requests

In general, the above assignments meet the needs of most faculty and staff. However, if you would like to develop a more collaborative or customized assignment with Career Development Services, please complete the assignment request form and our Career Development Counselor, Robin Reilly, will be in contact. Please keep in mind that most customized assignments or programs need a minimum of four to six weeks before the semester begins or classroom presentation date.
