What is it?

First Year Composition Embedded Multiliteracy Tutors (FYC-EMTs) are Writing & Multiliteracy Center tutors who are assigned to work closely with students in a First Year writing course. The FYC-EMT is the “go to” or dedicated tutor for the class whenever it is possible, because the tutor has learned about the assignments and course goals in advance. However, because of challenges with schedules, students in courses with FYC-EMTs are encouraged to work with any tutor in the WMC if their FYC-EMT is not available. FYC-EMTs can work with your students at any stage of the writing process to offer support for brainstorming, drafts, citations, and integrating sources. FYC-EMTs can also help with any kind of multimodal project including slideshow presentations, oral speeches, and research posters.

Interested in a WMC Tier in the FYC-EMT program?

The Faculty Director and the Associate Director would be happy to talk with you about including one of our WMC Tiers or an EMT in your Composition course. Because of planning and demand, requests should be made a month before the start of the semester. We do our best to meet requests, but submitting one does not guarantee an FYC-EMT.

Make a request for an Embedded Multiliteracy Center via WMC EMT request form

If you have any questions, please contact the Faculty Director or Associate Director.
