Welcome Students!

We understand the redirection process can be confusing and that you may have unresolved questions. We hope the following FAQ's can help you through the process.

Information about Redirection:

Q: What is redirection?
Eligible students who have applied to a CSU Campus but were not admitted to their school of choice will be asked to forward their Cal State Apply application to a CSU campus that has capacity for additional students.

Q: How does redirection work?
Since you were identified as eligible for redirection, you would have receive an email from the CSU to update your Cal State Apply application with either a first- and second-choice CSU campus or opt-out of redirection.

Q: What does all of this mean?
It means, we have received your Cal State Apply application and we are in the process of reviewing your application to determine your eligibility to CSU Channel Islands. We understand we may have not been your first choice but we can certainly be your final choice. We encourage to get to us know better by visiting our campus, exploring our academic programs, or learning more about the student support services we offer.

For Admitted Redirected Students:

We are excited that you are considering CSU Channel Islands. Find out why students have chosen to attend CSUCI by visiting our Get to Know CI page or following us on Instagram.

Q. If I have been admitted, what do I do next?
Students who have been admitted to CSUCI and wish to reserve a spot to enroll for the Fall 2024 term need to complete the following steps:

  • Accept your provisional admission by extended deadline of June 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
    • Log into your myCI and click on “CI Records.” Your login information was sent to the email address you provided on your application.
    • Once logged on, scroll down to the bottom of the page (under “Admissions”) and “Accept” or “Decline” admission and follow the prompts.
    • Note: A yellow triangle will appear in your Student Center after you accept your provisional offer of admission. You can ignore the triangle, but you must pay close attention to items on your To Do List.  Follow this link to discover more about checking your Admission Status.
  • Register for an Advising and Registration session by the extended deadline of June 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
    • After accepting your provisional admission, you will be prompted to register for your Advising and Registration session. If you have logged off, please use this link to register. For more information about New Student Registration, visit go.csuci.edu/NewStudentReg.  Please contact orientation@csuci.edu if you have any questions.
  • Register for an Orientation session by extended deadline of June 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.

  • Pay the Orientation fee by extended deadline of June 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
    • After registering for an orientation session, you will be prompted to pay the non-refundable orientation fee. It is highly recommended that you pay the orientation fee before logging out. If you log out prior to submitting payment, you will need to use the payment link embedded in your myCI Student Center. To get there, log on to myCI and click on “CI Records” under “My Links.” For detailed instructions, visit this link

IMPORTANT: Be sure to enter your preferred email address. You will receive an email confirmation if your payment was successfully received. If you do not receive an email, then your payment was not received. Save a copy of your confirmation email as it may be necessary to prove payment.

  • Submit official sealed transcript(s) and/or AP Test Scores before July 15, 2024.
    • Please check your To-Do list in myCI to check if you are missing transcripts. To receive final clearance to attend CSU Channel Islands in the fall, you must arrange to have your final transcripts (with your graduation date posted) and AP scores (if any) sent directly to the Admissions Office at the address noted below. (Official Transcripts must be a hard copy transcript in a sealed envelope mailed to our Admissions department.)

    • Electronic transcripts are preferred. You can request official electronic transcripts from your community college or university. If your school's transcript ordering system asks for a recipient name and email, please indicate CSU Channel Islands and admissions@csuci.edu. We are unable to accept transcripts emailed from the student; they must be sent directly from the college or university.

    • If your college or university is unable to send transcripts electronically, they may be postal mailed by the college or university registrar to:
      • CSU Channel Islands
        ATTN: Admissions - Sage Hall
        One University Drive
        Camarillo, CA 93012

    • Students may also hand-deliver or postal mail their transcripts to the CSUCI Admissions Office if they remain in the same sealed envelope provided to them by their registrar.

    • Note: If you have taken coursework from an institution outside of the United States, your transcript must be evaluated by a credentials evaluation service, such as International Education Research Foundation (IERF) at  www.ierf.org. Request your official report at least 6-8 weeks in advance of the transcript deadline.

    • If you took AP exams in high school or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, you must request that your official scores be sent to us directly from the College Board by the transcript deadline (unless you have already done so). AP/CLEP credit awarded from your transferring institution will not suffice. Exams taken four or more years require additional processing time. Please plan accordingly. Request scores at least 6-8 weeks in advance.
